Synopsis
This, the forth workshop, was also the most well attended with 37 delegates engaging in some interesting discussion and investigation of the issues facing the process community in Belgium in relation to the IEC61508 standard.

It was stated by Peter Vansina from the Chemical Risks Directorate that there is an opportunity for Belgium industry to seek assistance with funding propose for research initiatives in the safety-related domain by making proposals to the Belgium authorities.

A further positive outcome of the workshop was an overwhelming agreement by attendees that a Belgium IEC-61508 Industry Focus Group should be established maintaining close links to SIPI.
